Sky Dance of Winter Fire

As a writer I've worked extensively in both fiction and non-fiction.
With Sky Dance of Winter Fire I do both,

Brought to you by Cirsova Publications, this stand alone book is a modern-day fairytale that you can read to your children.

A few years back I witnessed an astounding event when, during a lull in the freezing temperatures, a swarm of winter fireflies covered the pine trees behind my house in a frenzy of flashing lights that no Christmas tree could ever outshine. I tried to capture it with both video and camera, but these attempts failed. So, now I'm sharing that experience with you through my artwork--utilizing a combination of photography, photoshop, and A.I. artwork.

Yes, I know that A.I. art is considered a bad thing, and swiping the work of others will never be acceptable. But that is not how I used it. As I explained in an accompanying article about The Evolution of Publishing, I used A.I. as a tool to work with my own images and photography, in order to create elements that were then used in original compositions of my own design.

The fairytale element of Sky Dance of Winter Fire deals with a small colony of bugs that I disturbed when moving an old wood pile during the firefly event. The encounter left me wondering about not only how they were affected by my actions, but how they veiwed me. Did they see me as some Lovecraftian monster, stomping through their world and creating chaos? That second part of the story, Wallflower and the Dawn Maiden examines these events through a bug's-eye perspective, and the dangers and tribulations that two young lovers faced.

Sold Out prior to release in June 2023, the first printing of the saddle-stiched edition was limited to 25 copies, and the first edition of the perfect bound edition was limited to 35 copies.

While the interior images of the Sky Dance of Winter Fire were given the textures of oil paintings,
for the back cover I used a water color technique.

Besides, a book with the word "Dance" in the title needs a picture of pretty girl dancing,
even if it is a Black Spider dance.

 Wallflower had been beaten and cast out of the colony for trying to help the Dawn Maiden when she fell.
It was a certain death sentence.

Then the colony's home was destroyed by Cthulhu Man, and he found Dawn Maiden abandoned and alone,
lost as the weather once again turned cold.

But he hesitated when she called to him.
He had already been taught one hard lesson because of his affections for her.
Would he dare respond again?

Who is Michael Tierney?

Michael Tierney has been involved in comics and the publishing industry since the 70s. Owner and proprietor of both The Comic Book Store and Collector's Edition, Michael was a Finalist for both the Star*Reach Comics Retailer of the Year Award in 1985 and the Will Eisner Spirit of the Comics Retailer of the Year Award in 1999, has been an Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide Advisor since the 1990s, and is a staple of Central Arkansas' comic scene. A former journeyman printer and printing division manager, he's written, published, and at times even penciled, inked, and printed his own comics. He is currently writing, lettering, and coloring Edgar Rice Burroughs' Beyond the Farthest StarTM online, and his four volume Edgar Rice Burroughs 100 Year Art Chronology was published by Chenault & Gray in 2018.

Michael has been a regular contributor to Cirsova Heroic Fantasy and Science Fiction Magazine, who released the 2019 35th Anniversary set of Michael's Wild Stars comics and books. Cirsova Publishing is a Central Arkansas semi-pro publisher of Science Fiction and Fantasy. Its flagship publication, Cirsova Heroic Fantasy and Science Fiction Magazine was a 2017 Hugo Awards finalist for Best Semi-Pro Zine.

They also published Michael's posthumas collaboration with Edgar Rice Burroughs on Young Tarzan in 2019.
